Paris is best explored on foot. You move at your own pace, change streets at the last minute, stop to admire a building facade or sit in a café… and that’s often how you discover places you hadn’t planned to visit.
Fromthe Hôtel Adèle & Jules, located at 2 and 4 bis Cité Rougemont in the 9th arrondissement, several of Paris’s must-see attractions are within easy walking distance. The hotel is situated on a quiet, small private street, yet just a few steps from the Grands Boulevards.
Here are three ideas for walks to enjoy Paris without spending the whole day on the metro.
Walking time: about 20 minutes
This is probably one of the easiest walks to take from the hotel.
As you leave the Cité Rougemont, head toward Boulevard Poissonnière, then continue toward the Grands Boulevards. You’ll pass the Musée Grévin, among other sights, before continuing on to Boulevard des Italiens and Boulevard des Capucines.
At the end of the path, the Opéra Garnier gradually comes into view.
Take some time to look at the buildings lining the grand boulevards. It's a great way to discover 19th-century Parisian architecture without having to follow a complicated tourist itinerary.
Once you arrive at Place de l'Opéra, you can continue on to Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, or simply sit down at a sidewalk café for a coffee break.
A little tip: Take this walk in the late afternoon. The light on the facades and the Palais Garnier is especially beautiful.
Walking time: about 25 to 30 minutes
To get to the Louvre, you can take Rue de Richelieu. The route is fairly straightforward and takes you through several very different neighborhoods.
Along the way, you'll pass the Palais Brongniart, then continue on to the Palais Royal. The gardens are the perfect place to take a few-minute break before continuing on your way.
From the Palais Royal, all you have to do is cross Rue de Rivoli to reach the Cour du Louvre.
And at a time like that, it's hard not to pull out your phone to take a few pictures.
If you still feel like walking, don't necessarily stop at the museum. Cross the Cour Napoléon and continue on to the Tuileries Garden. From there, you can head to the Seine and—why not?—continue on to the Musée d'Orsay.
A quick tip: Plan this walk for the morning if you want to visit the Louvre. For a casual stroll, late afternoon works very well.
Walking time: about 30 to 35 minutes
Want to get a bird's-eye view? Head to Montmartre.
Fromthe hotel, head to the Faubourg Montmartre neighborhood, then stroll leisurely up toward Rue des Martyrs. This part of the route is interesting in its own right: shops, small gourmet spots, and cafés line the streets one after another.
Continue toward Les Abbesses before gradually making your way up to Montmartre Hill. The last few streets are steeper, but the reward awaits at the top: the Sacré-Cœur and one of the most beautiful views of Paris.
To head back down, you can take a different route and wander through the narrow streets of Montmartre. That’s precisely the appeal of this walk: you don’t have to stick to the route exactly.
A quick tip: Wear comfortable shoes and set aside some time to get lost in the neighborhood's streets.
After several hours of walking around Paris, it’s quite nice to return to a quiet hotel. That’s precisely one of the highlights of the Hôtel Adèle & Jules. The hotel is located on a private street off the Grands Boulevards, close to the liveliest neighborhoods in central Paris.
The hotel has 60 rooms spread across two buildings, with several room categories ranging from the Cosy Classic Room to the Capitale Junior Suite. Connecting family rooms are also available for guests traveling with children.
And after a day of walking, there’s one event you definitely won’t want to miss: Tea Time, served daily from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., featuring hot drinks and sweet treats.
The 9th arrondissement is a convenient starting point for exploring Paris. From the hotel, the Opéra Garnier, the department stores, the theaters, and several historic neighborhoods are all within easy walking distance.
It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Opéra Garnier from the Adèle et Jules Hotel, depending on your pace and the route you choose.
